First and Last

I had my first and last Art show at my studio on May 7th! It was a wonderful experience. We probably had over a hundred people come through. There was tons of great food, wine, fun people, and of course, beautiful artwork to look at! I share a studio flat with Jen Snyder (www.Jensnyderdesign.com) and Kip Bulwinkle (www.karsonphotography.com), who are two extremely talented artists. I consider the time I’ve had at the studio a privilege because of all I’ve learned from them.

The morning of the show I was a little down because Nate was going to be in Charlotte leading worship and most everyone else I knew had the First Wednesday church service that night. The hightlight of my evening was when my dear friend Laura Broach walked in the door of my studio with a dozen roses! She took her kids and hubby to church and came to support me at the show! I almost cried! I was so grateful to her for coming…especially for skipping a First Wednesday service. If anyone doesn’t know about First Wednesday services at Seacoast, they are the highlight of the month.

Also, a major thanks to my sister-in-law Abbi who was my “other half” that night! She came and helped me put all the finishing touches on the place before people started to arrive and just stood by my side as a supportive sister. She is wonderful and I thank God for her! She is the sister I never had and I’ll probably miss her friendship more than any other when we move…

Me with Jen and Kip after the show…notice at that point the shoes had come off!

My precious friend Laura! She wins the #1 friend award!

The tallest person I’ve ever met…Jen’s husband towers over me at 6 ft. 8 inches. Crazy that there are even taller people than that in the world!

What a sweet and powerful blog. The Davis family will be so missed! I’m sad we weren’t able to become closer friends. You are such a dear girl, talented woman, wonderful mom, and dear wife! Love you Carrie Davis!

My husband and I were at the art walk last week and really enjoyed seeing your work. Your studio space is fabulous! It’s so nice to have such a vibrant art community in Park Circle.

(On a side note, my husband and I also go to Seacoast!)

    Take care,
    Allison

that was such a fun night; i was happy to be there! and i’m going to miss you guys so much more than i’ve let myself realize for fear of a complete breakdown.

i also demand that once you guys move, you must drop the kids in the mail to me every so often; just a few stamps on each little noggin. i’m sure they’ll be fine. ;)
