Since I’ve been off the pill for a month, I took a pregnancy test the other night. My heart nearly jumped out of my chest because the little blue lines came up so quickly, but after I scrambled to find the box and decode the symbols I breathed a huge sigh or relief when I realized all the blue lines meant “not pregnant”. I guess since it came up so fast it meant I was REALLY not pregnant! Phew. I’ve told the Lord I’m up for whatever plans He has for us…but maybe not that! Just for now, at least.

Anyhow, the twelve-year old girl in me who grew up with three brothers came alive and I thought it’d be hilarious to play a joke on Nate. So I left the test on the counter for him to find. At bath time he went in to run the water for the kids and after a minute I heard the door close and the lock turn. Nathaniel started knocking on the door and hollering at Dad to open the door so he could get in his bath. I was in stitches because I knew Nate was searching for the box to decode the test. I knocked on the door until he opened it and with a straight face I asked, “What are you doing?” He just walked past me, but I could see a furrowed brow. I followed him and asked him, “What were you doing?” He was being nonchalant because I think he thought I’d accidentally left it out and didn’t mean for him to find it. But I finally said, “Did you find something?” To which he immediately said, “What does it say?!?!” I about split my sides laughing, but assured him it was negative. He said it would be just like the Lord to throw that in the mix of things! Of course he’s right…the last two times we’ve had a big change in our lives, we got pregnant!
